Eladrin is built like a brick wall. He has a wide head and thick legs and body, along with no tail, and he stands around twelve feet tall at the shoulder. His fur is short and soft, dark blue-gray in color, and his underbelly is a light blue-green. He has small, rounded ears like a bear. His back is striped vertically and he has a few stripes on his cheeks. He has a short, course mane along his neck. His eyes are light green, and his pupils are cat-like.Due to his bulk, Eladrin is very slow. This makes him an extremely poor hunter, so he chooses to get his food by foraging or fishing. What he lacks in speed he makes up for in strength. He is an extremely powerful vayron who could plow through just about anyone or anything, if he wasn’t terrified of doing so. Like a draft horse, he can carry or pull quite a bit of weight before becoming encumbered. He can also purr.

personality

Eladrin is an extremely gentle-natured being. He cares about people and other creatures, and doesn’t enjoy seeing others hurt – or, for that matter, hurting them himself. He is extremely careful with where he puts his weight, but he can be extremely hesitant around children and pups of his own kind, making him a less than ideal babysitter. He can be very timid, however, and is more likely to run than strike up a conversation. He is naturally quite leery of humans and humanoids.Despite his timid nature, Eladrin is an extremely loyal friend. Earning his trust will result in him following you about at every step. That being said, he has the tendency to cling to those he finds safe and getting rid of him might be difficult.

abilities and skills

In addition to natural physical abilities, Eladrin has a magical affinity for healing, but not without a price. One one end, he can heal others, making wounds disappear in seconds and illness fade to nothing. However, in order for something to live, something else must be injured or killed, be it himself or something else. He is hesitant to use his abilities, fearing the worst may come out of them, and is not yet proficient at discovering all that he can do.

Falka is an old, mysterious vayron, keeping to herself in the sands of Thedale. Though her white eyes are sightless, she does not seem to notice their absence. Her fur is a dark purple, with lighter purple face and neck, in a misty pattern, with white speckles like stars. She has long pointed ears and a lengthy tail with longer, brushlike fur at the tip and base, and is often clad in gold or silver jewelry. She has a thin and wirey build, only standing around five feet at the shoulder.

personality

Falka mostly keeps to herself, though she isn’t necessarily rude or even anti-social. Most of the time, she is simply too involved in her work to really get out of her shell around strangers, which can cause her to accidentally ignore anyone around her. Once interacted with one will find that she is calm and motherly, with a keen sense of detail and a cunning understanding of the way the world works. It would be wise to listen whenever she opens her mouth. Although rather wise, she has a curious streak, something that has contributed to her knowledge over the years. She understands that she doesn’t know everything quite yet and is eager to learn.

abilities and skills

Falka is extremely booksmart and a skilled alchemist and magician. She spends her time figuring out new potion combinations and working to better what she already knows. Her magic is extremely focused on the mind, and she is able to communicate with other beings through thought alone, regardless of species or language. In addition, she can also use other creatures as a proxy for her sight, though she will normally ask first.Upon finding an injured Harris hawk in the desert and nursing it back to health, she has gained favor from the other hawks in the area. A group of six hang around her at all times, and she is able to communicate with them, convince them to fetch items or hunt for her, and they allow her to use their eyes to see. This mental link can be broken if either party fails to concentrate, and the hawks hang around her since they know she provides food and shelter for them.

Ronin

Ronin is a large vayron, bulky and towering most others in his species, standing at around fourteen feet at the shoulder. His thick coat can make him appear even larger, especially around his neck, where it falls in a mane-like pattern. He is mid-gray in color, with a lighter underbelly and slightly darker back, along with black and white markings on his face. His eyes are a fierce blue. His tail is long and thick, like a snow leopard's, for balance, and his paws are huge and slightly splayed, mimicking snowshoes. He has a heavy, powerful build, but it is mostly hidden under his layers of fur. He’s built powerfully but lightly, able to jump long distances and run at speed in snow. He is also agile around rocks and other obstacles. He dislikes heat and prefers to wander around the snow. He has scarring around the left side of his face and eye, which can sometimes be hidden under thick fur.

Ronin is a vayron as wild as wild can come. Often called “The White Wolf” by nearby villages, Ronin is unfriendly on a good day, rampaging on a bad. He will often attack and terrorize travelers who wander into his forest, though, that being said, his “attacks” usually don't leave injury. He prides himself in a solitary life and will do anything to keep it that way, starting with keeping humans from what he considers his territory. He has no issues throwing his weight around as a tactic to intimidate or get what he wants, though he tends to keep his issues private and to himself. If someone helps him, he feels like it is his duty to help them back, and he’d rather not open that can of worms.

Magic does not come easy for Ronin, but he does have some magical abilities. He can control ice and water to an extent, able to freeze water into chunks of ice or bend snow flurries around himself. He rarely uses these abilities, as they draw unwanted attention from other vayrons. He has no intent to progress at his skills, and would simply rather use his physical strength to get what he wants.He is a very skilled hunter and tracker, able to find anything in the snow with little hints or clues.

Spensa is a small, wiry human girl with a bad temper. She has long, mouse brown hair, intense violet eyes, and medium olive skin. She stands at around 4’11. She can be messy at times, and she obviously isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. Despite that, she does care how people view her. Her favorite color is blood red, and she’d much rather eat simple foods than complicated dishes.

personality

Spensa is stubborn and unyielding, in a constant battle to prove herself in the face of others. She tends to use threating, sometimes vulgar language, which is attributed to her grandmother's tellings of old Earth heroes and legends, something she is captivated by. Bold to the point of almost stupidity, she isn’t afraid to stand up for herself in the face of authority and has no issues bending rules or exaggerating truths to get where she wants. That being said, she can also be brash with her words and actions, and will sometimes get into verbal or physical fights over the things she believes in. She longs to be brave, but in that longing, she doesn’t allow herself to show fear, distress, or any other emotions she considers cowardly.

Spensa is an excellent pilot, flying in the Defiant Defense Force (DDF), a military unit tasked to protect her world Detritus, rumored to be the only human settlement remaining in the galaxy, from an alien group called the Krell, who seek their destruction. These humans call themselves Defiants -- the last surviving members of the Defiant starship.Spensa is also what is called a Cytonic. People with these psionic abilities are found scattered across the galaxy in multiple sapient species, however in recent decades they have become quite rare. Cytonics have increased senses, mental abilities, and can communicate with other Cytonics across great distances. She has other abilities as well, however she has yet to figure them out without a proper mentor.

m-bot

M-Bot, formally designated as MB-1021, is Spensa's ship, an advanced AI. M-Bot was found by Spensa in one of Detritus' caverns, broken down and offline. Using stolen parts, she slowly repaired the ship, coming to find that it was around two hundred years old, from before humans settled on Detritus. The ship considers Spensa to be his pilot, and won't let anyone else fly him. He is snarky, and attempts humor, which usually falls flat. Many of his core data processing was degraded when Spensa brought him back online, all save for a database to catalogue fungus, which he takes in stride. He has a fascination with mushrooms, and claims that the "M" in his name stands for "mushroom," while Spensa insists it stands for "Murder." He has six destructor pistols and a variety of other weapons, a high functioning holo emitter, and advanced stealth and communications systems set into a small, one-man ship, leading Spensa to believe that he is an old stealth and intel ship. M-Bot, however, denies this.

doomslug

Spensa found Doomslug in the cavern near M-Bot, and she serves as Spensa's faithful pet/companion. The slug is bright yellow with blue spikes on her back, and no visible eyes, roughly the size of a loaf of bread. She is able to produce sounds from her spikes and sounds almost "flute-like," and is able to mimic words, though Spensa is convinced she doesn't actually understand language, despite the fact that she corrects Spensa's grammar on a few occasions. She's far more intelligent than she may seem, and possesses her own host of abilities.
